I had a similar experience with Washington Mutual. They said that the credit card application could be approved in as little as 30 seconds. However, when I asked, they told me that the decision will be mailed. I thought it meant that I was denied, but about 2 weeks later, I received my card in the mail. Also remember that if you refused the right to receive a free copy of your attribute report. They educate you on how to get in the letter they send you.
