Question by VR: should I worry about identity theft if I have received a credit card application for a person with a different
I received a credit card application to my home address for a person that had a different first name but the same last name as mine? Should I worry about identify theft? I have children that all have social security numbers. Should I worry that their number has been stolen and someone is using a phony name with their social security number? How can I check if this could have happened?

Best answer:

Answer by steve_miller_5
The fact that this solicitation bears a name different than yours indicates it is NOT an identity theft situation. Relax.

Question by “Corey”: Question about Consumer Credit Counsiling?
I have a friend w/ stellar credit, but the problem is… she is in so much debt, she has little to no money for herself after she pays all her credit card bills. She has already consolidated, gotten no-interest rate cards and done all that. Can or will consumer credit counsiling help her? If so… any suggestion on what they will do? She is willing to lower her fica score a bit, if need be. Thanks.

Answer by leon
From what I have either read or heard, they make arrangements with them, the people you own. But they never pay them, they hold the money, maybe use it too, when you are caught up, THEN they pay them off. So you pay longer. Like the last person, look in the phone book for the toll free numbers for recorded messages. That is free.

Question by 3P.C.O.: Credit Application for Renting house whats it about?
Ok so my fiancee and I are moving into a rental house and recently filled out a credit app. I don’t have credit established but my fiancee does. What does the credit application do? What do people usually turn them down for? What are they going to think about me not having any at all? What if neither of us had credit then what would they do? I just need a little filling in….plus lets see…our total income is more then 3 times the rent

Best answer:

Answer by T D
This gives a landlord a history of you and your fiancee, if you pay your bills on time you will pay your landlord on time.In some instances where you have no credit I would advise the landlord to get a co-signer agreement.

Question by Dan V: Is lying about income on a Credit Card application illegal?
From what I understand they very rarely verify the income you list.Is there anything illegal astir exaggerating annual income on a Credit Card application for the purposing of getting approved/getting a higher starting limit? Please wear’t give me ethics, I just desire to know if it constitutes fraud (could be a typo for all they know) or if there’s anything illegal about my SPECIFIC question.I would like a Yes or No if possible.

Best answer:

Answer by bustersmycat
fraud is a crime. depends on whether one would reckon your lie to constitute fraud from a legal standpoint. Besides, credit cards are about the worst form of personal loan you could use. They practice legalized usury. Having a lower limit is probably better for you anyway.

Question by Deak: What is the punishment for lying about age on a credit card application?
I’m underage (16) and I got to thinking about people my age who have credit cards (and not with their parents account/consent). They’ve lied about their age on the application. Is there any punishment for this? Does anyone find out? Could a minor really get into trouble for this? Can’t you but pay off the card?

Best answer:

Answer by **()**
I really don’t think they care…as long as one makes the monthly payments.
