Will participating in Consumer Credit Counseling affect my credit score negatively in any way?

Question by Steven C: Will participating in Consumer Credit Counseling affect my credit score negatively in any way?

Best answer:

Answer by Toodeemo
Absolutely. Any time there is an accomodation or payment that settles or otherwise compromises the original terms and ocnditions of the contract of repayment, there is going to be a negative report. In theory, the creditor can not agree not to report negative information. Most CCC programs require you to be in default before they will accept you, and most repayment programs by definition intending you are paying while in default. The question is, will making the payments for a lower amount be good in the long jogging than just allowing the fail to continue, become more serious, without payment. For most people, the CCC programs are the better choice. But not all.

Question by KS: Has anyone ever used American Consumer Credit Counseling?
I got the name of the company from a financial advisor, but I’m very wearing about using a debt consolidating company since I always here such horrible stories. I checked over their website and spoke with someone from the company on the call. They say they are nonprofit and gave me a gauge for pay off that sounded great, but I’m still nervous.I just desire to get opinions from others who may have tried it or have known populated who tried it before I go any further.

Question by Mini Midas: Is there a honest rating of consumer credit counseling services out there?

Best answer:

Answer by Steveo
Yes, and it’s from the FTC. If you mean credit repair services, then the FTC says that they are all scams. They make suggestions on where to find logical companies and such. Just beware. You can’t find too many sources that will be as good as this paper for a honest rating.

No I haven’t. I made myself a budget on the computer and stuck to it. Before I spend my money I paid myself $ 50 and put it in a savings been, then I paid one credit card the minimum and one Credit card $ 50 more then minimum and the next pay I did it the opposite, this way I got down from the carded faster. It took me 2 years but I did it, even though I considered declaring personal bancrupcy but decided that I couldn’t do it for embarrassment. I just stop spending and before I bought habilitated I honestly cosidered whether I really needed them and then I checked out second hand stores and now that I have money, I still buy my jeans at the second hand store. Great jeans for $ 5, already soft and worn in and most are name brands, the same for jackets and coats. I found things that were brandnew, a spring jacket or $ 3.50 never worn. You need to be imaginative and patient when you look for stuff and want to save money.Good luck, maybe someone else tin give you advise on the Credit Counselling Service.

Does using a consumer credit counseling service to repay your debt effect your credit in a negative way?

Question by : Does using a consumer ascribing counseling service to repay your debt effect your credit in a negative way?

Best answer:

Answer by rmlowrie
Short answer: yes it does. Longer answer: It is better for you to work terms of repayment out yourself with your creditors. Believe it or not, most are more than willing to work with you – let’s face it, money is still money in their pockets. But to help you in the process of eliminating your debt, no matter how much you owe, I would recommend a book that has set many people free, and I know it did for me: The Credit Diet, by John Fuhrman. Believe me, you will not only find it liberating because he gives practical tips on how to get out and stay out of bad debt, he also shows you how you can do it safely, securely, and with great confidence. Also, you will find yourself out of debt much more quickly than going through debt consolidation. And beware of the credit cards that offer “debt consolidation”. Although they are not scams, they ensure that you will stay IN debt far longer than if you just bite the bullet, so to speak, and work the debt elimination strategy found in that book I just mentioned. Best of success, as I know you will make it if you put your mind and your money to it.
