Should I ask my boss to lie for me on a credit application for a car?

The credit company wants me to make more money than I do. They will not consider my boyfriend’s income because we are not married and his credit is too bad to be on the loan. I already have the car, now they want a letter from my boss stating I make more than I really do. If my boss says yes, great. But, I don’t want him to view me as unethical.

Don’t ask him to do this. It will make you look untrustworthy, and your boss probably won’t respect you as much. He’ll wonder what else you’ve lied about (did you lie on your resume? Your interview? About your work?).

I don’t understand how, if you already have the car, they can come back and ask you if you make more money than you do. They extended credit to you based upon the amount of money you made when you asked for the loan.

absolutely not. please do not risk appearing unethical to your boss. this will look unfavorable for you. lying on a credit application is risky because they can check it out anyways. Please don’t risk everything. the reason they have salary req. is so that you purchase a car you can afford. purchase a cheaper car. good luck!
